Parallels of Family, Darkness and Lightby banmornComment by KaDi: Well, despite your perfect "5" you can take heart that so many commentors "got it"! It really is perfect for the challenge...and beyond. The tension and playfulness of line in this image should make those under-five voters ashamed! (and if this is your average by the voters, well, I'll just sit here and be jealous)
Thanks for playing in the "closest to 5" thread today! |

Through Saturn's Ringsby banmornComment by Artifacts: Composition and color generally good. Concept is fine.
The general poor photographic quality of this image will hurt it in scoring. It has a lot of granulated detail that will be interpreted as an image defect by most viewers.
You might consider a couple things for improvement. First apply an excess amount of noise reduction to remove the granulation and smooth the borders in the trasition areas. It would add to the ring illusion you are trying to achieve. Then pick a couple colors and increase their saturation a lot to draw attention to them and add more visual interest to the composition. Color painting in a 50% greyscale layer is probably the best way to do that but simple saturation increases for the selected colors would probably work well too. |

Pipesby banmornComment by popdeepop: Very much a beauty. You win on that. If you back up and zoom in they would be more parallel. |

Pipesby banmornComment by colourBlind: A great photo. Personally (just my opinion, take with a grain of salt), I would have cropped out all of the balcony above, even though it would mean lopping off part of the larger pipes. This would have given a more uniform background to the rest of the pipes.
The focus is great but what I'm really amazed by are the absolutely gorgeous colours in the pipes - especially the blues at the bottom. That definitely gives it the 'wow' factor in my book.
Overall, a very nice and original entry - well done! |

Pipesby banmornComment by rookie92: Nice photo. I think I would have liked it better if the bottom wasn't cropped. |
