Dark Dogby JacksonGarietyComment by Paul: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: A lovely, lovely image - one that is more than the sum of its parts. The composition and how it so well served by the high depth of field; the wonderful tones, the way you have captured the light; the high key processing and the central charm of the dog.
Critical stuff: Nothing really - I have a worry about the border, but nothing that I need to go into here.
Overall: A brilliant image. |

The Old Man And The Angelby JacksonGarietyComment by roz: love this image .. !!
excellent the way you've highlighted the 'action' between the old man and the small dog and the way he's reaching out .. the blur works so well for this shot and the sepia tones are perfect ..
angels come in all forms !! .. |

.:: Peekaboot ! ::.by JacksonGarietyComment by vawendy: Wow! This is spectacular! If only you could have been a little more to the right so you could crop something like this: yet have only street and sidewalk in the background. The umbrella, kid and reflections are incredible, but your background is so busy.
It still made me say "wow" when I first saw it, however. Marvelous shot! |

Absense Of Tractionby JacksonGarietyComment by jomari: I love this dramatic shot. The point of view makes the tractor look so imposing. The stark contrasts really suit the massive machinery while maintaining enough detail.I like the rain on the window and the frost on the wheels too. The whole image illustrates the harshness of the elements in which the tractor resides. Message edited by author 2010-07-02 19:19:36. |

Dark Dogby JacksonGarietyComment by bassbone: cool use of high contrast to emphasize the people and blow out the water. I'll be honest with you, I am not a fan of the frame - cutting the guy off on the left side really distracts me a lot. |

Dark Dogby JacksonGarietyComment by giantmike: Ok, I think I wee where you were going here. The high key with extreme contrast gives the feeling that the dog is walking on glass. But maybe it would have worked better if just that was done, without the distracting elements of the background (especially the people). |
