If the house is the subject of the photo as suggested by the title, it and not the frame surrounding it, should be in focus, IMHO.

The focus seems to be on a very dark wooden post. I would light up the post more if that's where you are going to focus your photo. The house in the background is very bright. You can try shooting with a faster shutter speed and putting the flash on a low setting to light the post a bit.

To imporve this I'd like to see a UV filter so the house looks less blown out that along with shooting above the barbed wire so that it's not cutting the shot in half.
The ivy post alone is a good shot in the shade.

Not a clear opposite in my opinion. Girls & boys can have either length hair.

Interesting take on the challenge. I think, however, the girl's hair scrunchie and the orange on the boy's cap are distractions.

House is out of focus. If you wanted both the fence and the house to be in focus you needed to use a smaller aperture like f/16 or higher.
