The Bearded Ladyby ellamayComment by willem: I am going to be critical (well I usually am anyway). I like the shot but think it could have been better. I like the colors and details of the butterfly and the soft green undistracting surroundings. But the butterfly is in the perfect position to get full sharpness and in your image the top of the wings and the top of the antenna is outside the depth of field. You were probably limited from using a smaller aperture due to low light (I don't see sunny highlights or flash) but I am making my comments anyway. |

The Bearded Ladyby ellamayComment by Konador: The green colour looks a bit unnatural to me. I think tweaking the green channel in post processing would help. I would also adjust the levels a bit so that the white on the wings is brighter. 6 |

The Bearded Ladyby ellamayComment by colda: nice pic, can't help but feel that the focus could be sightly better, the near wing is perfect but the depth of focus seems to include the leaves in the foreground rather than being a little further back and getting the rear wing also. I realise that this could well be just an illusion as the leaves are on the same plane as the near wing |

The Artichokeby ellamayComment by sfalice: I live in artichoke country and consider them 'yummy' not wacky. But you never know. Some folks have other ideas. Nicely photographed... |

The Artichokeby ellamayComment by afarland: I don't know... I'm on the border with this one. I actually wouldn't have put this in a wacky category on it's own. Most people skimming over it could mistake it as a flower, which isn't wacky to me. |

Life From Deathby ellamayComment by skylen: Ooops, this must have been the wrong challenge, huh? Wildlife is *this* week, I think.
Okay, it just really is not at ALL complex to me. A bird. In the water. With a fish. Somewhat blurry background increases the focus on the foreground subject and reduces the complexity.
Still, this is a great photo! Is that a flounder? Fabulous image, but it makes me double-check which challenge I'm voting for. |
