A very nice capture and a deep and complex implication into the mystery of life and death. Bumping up.

Wonderful textures on the bird - subdues lighting really worked well.

I love the detail in the feathers and the bird
Not good for the fish though

Very sharp nut how complex??

Ooops, this must have been the wrong challenge, huh? Wildlife is *this* week, I think.

Okay, it just really is not at ALL complex to me. A bird. In the water. With a fish. Somewhat blurry background increases the focus on the foreground subject and reduces the complexity.

Still, this is a great photo! Is that a flounder? Fabulous image, but it makes me double-check which challenge I'm voting for.

Great capture of this moment in time. I do think that this capture doesn't do as well as it should because of the similarities of the colors across the whole picture, with nothing really standing out except for the brown leg and the pinpoint eye. But the water, feathers, fish are all the same color, so my eyes are continually wandering without finding a place to rest (the eye is too small to hold interest for long). Maybe a small border, or tighter crop on the head and fish would work better.
