submerged blue and orangeby deceptiveComment by autool: Critique Club Critique
Title: submerged blue and orange, by deceptive
Composition: This is a very well composed abstract photo. I like the diagonal line formed by the two colors and the curves developed by the ripples of water. The water ripples add wonderful texture and interest to the picture.
Technical: I feel that your focus, exposure and use of light are right on. Your post processing is clean and it appears that the colors are true and vivid. Your simplistic border fits the picture well.
Challenge: You have met the challenge with not only a picture that included complimentary colors but one that is interesting and pleasing to the eye.
Suggestions: I have studied this picture and the comments left by others. The color might be a little more orange but I think this is nit picking. You have controlled the light very well with no harsh spots, a technical part that I wish I could master as well as you have. I find no need for improvement other than it could use a little sparkle to liven it up a bit. I don't know exactly how you would accomplish that, so I hated to mention it. Maybe you could have let some of the light bounce back, but not so much as to create hot spots.

flightby deceptiveComment by inspzil: The basic black background really makes this a unique picture. These birds are seen 99% of the time on blue sky or in seascape type shots. This is almost a perfect stop action shot. What really makes this picture is the framing. I might have flipped this photo about the horizon to make it seem headed up instead of down. I think moving from left to right is important from the mind's natural perspective. Nice work. |

flightby deceptiveComment by carsten: One of my favourites this week. Good composition and the b&w tone is perfect. So is focus and cropping. I don´t know how you could have done it much better. Meets the challenge very well. Well done and good luck! |

This is a very nice shot. When it was loading (top to bottom) what I saw first was a turquoise color, but when it loaded all the way, it's definately green.
What I like most about this shot is curved lines on top of the vertical lines. I think that is very nice. I like the way that the straight lines meet the curved ones. That is very visually appealing to me.
Focus and clarity are really good. You have captured the detail in the top of the hut and the texture in the wood as well.
At first glance, I thought that the lighting might be a little harsh, creating some reflection on the glossy wood, however, that doesn't really appear to be the case. It's shiny, but not distracting at all.
I like the angle and framing/cropping you chose as well. The way that the vertival lines are nice and vertical, and the way that the curved wave goes across the photo works very nicely. I like how the subject fills the entire frame of the photo.
I really wish I could offer more in the way of improvement, however, I don't think this really needs any improvement. I like it just as it is. Not very often I get to say that. Congrats.
