Week 7by chris48083Comment by Ecce_Signum: hehe, love the riders 'oh sh*t* expression. Normaly I'd want this to be tack sharp with an oof bg but it sort of works as it is, kind of gritty and a capture of the moment. The thin horizontal line across his chest is a little distracting to me though. |

Week 5by chris48083Comment by Bruce_the_Robert: Excellent. Wonderful light from behind the couch and works so, so well in black and white as you've converted it. Excellent image (I think this would have done well in a free study, it's such a great conversion and so well composed). |

Week 4by chris48083Comment by Bruce_the_Robert: I like this, from conception through to finish. I like the little details in the front lettering on the keys (like that the "u", the last letter, has "Undrlne" on it as if to emphasize the point) to the processing. |

The photo came out nice, I would have like to see some more contrast maybe. Also whenever I see wood or clouds I want to dodge and burn all the grain . :) |

Week 7by chris48083Comment by jdannels: I posted this on another photo on here but I think it applies here in regards to level horizons.
I was talking to my aunt one day who is a muralist in SF and she was asking me about what I look for in a shot and how I edit. And I told her some stuff and usually I try to have a straight even horizon. And she asked why, and I had no good answer, I think mostly its been drilled into me surfing here and on the web. She said that often horizons produced by artists that aren't level are meant to make the viewer feel that they are walking through the scene. Because when you are walking you are never really that straight up and down and the horizon would not be perfectly level. I
Sometimes I don't think horizons don't need to be straight.
I think this would also look good with some sepia toning. |
