I like the idea of an old, used and worn out pair of boots. Even the inclusion of the dog wasn't a bad thing. I don't like the crop. I think it is too tight for this shot. The setting also gives off more of a "snapshot" feel than it does a professional photograph. The dogs front let is overexposed. The photo seems sharp, but almost oversharpened after a slightly out of focus shot was taken.

A slightly deeper DOF would have made the dog a bit sharper, and would have added heaps to the shot.

I think you went to far with the green grass. and the tree's in the BG, the sky is too pale and missing details. I think you over processed this image... UNLESS you wanted it like that, we all have our own ideas on what something should look like, but I thought I would just give my $.02
