Three Faded Rosesby melismaticaComment by scalvert: Good concept. You needed more ambient light on the scene to avoid grain and the hot spot in the background, but still quite nice. If the grain is intentional, then fading the saturation would add to the nostalgic feel. |

Dumpster Artby melismaticaComment by melismatica: Originally posted by bobdaveant: This is a great shot, I love the colors, it would have done well in the Rust challenge, well done. |
It was actually entered in the Abstract challenge and doing the best I've ever done in a challenge but it was DQ because of a time/date stamp error. This is the same photo with slightly different post-processing. It was originally taken for the Rust challenge. My Rust entry was DQd for the same reason.
Thanks for taking a moment to comment. :D |

Henrik (Summer, 1993)by melismaticaComment by zeuszen: Wham, what great energy, not only of the subject but also via manner!
It is a very tight crop, especially at top and bottom, and not having been there, I can't say if it could have been 'framed' better. I like the vintage coarseness of it, the contrast and b & w, but I admire the timing, most of all.

Henrik (Summer, 1993)by melismaticaComment by Imagineer: Great capture - really looks natural. Nice depth of contrast too.
Edit: just noticed the border looks odd, but actually on second glance I like the erraticness of it which matches the protrait, so perhaps you could emphasise it more? Message edited by author 2004-06-05 06:45:29. |

Three Faded Rosesby melismaticaComment by bpickard: Not sure I'm a big fan of 'romantic fantasy' photos like this. However, I think the set-up could have been improved. All the interesting parts are on the left...on the right you have the rather dark, unattractive stems and the messy ribbons....so I would recommend a tighter composition next time. Also, I now you have fone for the soft focus and grain effects but perhaps the detail wasn't there in the first place to allow this..... |
