Lower half of image distracts. If he/she was sitting, then lower could be cropped effectively.
Unfortunately, challenge calls for a portrait of a person.

His (her?) head is beautiful in focus and the eyes are very telling. Too bad that the body is very much out of focus. I would have liked a deeper DOF, or a different crop from just the head.

Despite the fact that the challenge clearly stated the photo should be of a person, I think this is a great shot. The lighting is very nice and the catchlights in his/her eyes are wonderful. I do think that his/her whole body should have been in focus instead of just the head. Had the subject only been a person, I would have scored much higher.
