128.jpgby bennettjamieComment by dwterry: I like 130 better. They seem like they are almost the same, but the background on 130 works, whereas the background on this one is more distracting.

136.jpgby bennettjamieComment by dwterry: Similar to your other diagonal railroad tracks image (just opposite direction). I like it for much the same reasons as the other.

184.jpgby bennettjamieComment by dwterry: Cute smile. Her body is at a nice angle to the camera, and I like the tilt of her head. DOF is good, blurring the background.
I think I would crop this around the middle of her belly, to mitigate the potential for appearance that she might have a buldge (I think she's plenty thin, but some girls are really self conscious about that sort of thing). I would also crop so the left side of the image so that her body is facing into the picture rather than out of it.
And the only minor "nit" I have, is the catch light which appears centered in her eyes (meaning on-camera flash was used). But given the quality of the image, I wouldn't even worry about it. Just put it in your list of things to do, that in the future you'll start playing with off-camera flash.

Krissy Shoot 003_edited.jpgby bennettjamieComment by Greetmir: Rescueable for sure. Here is a very slapdash fast and dirty treatment I gave it. Much more could be done with the original and a bit more time.

I hope you don't mind that I played with it.
P.S. I just noticed that we use almost identical cameras! Don't be afraid to leave the flash open and on auto to experiment with fill flash in contrasty brightly lit outdoor scenes. Check it out.
P.P.S. You nailed the Rule of Thirds on this shot, which most find very desireable, but some would argue that the model should face the largest "empty" space except when bringing to someone's attention that they are leaving or going fast. Not a firm rule by any means for sure though. Just a thought. Message edited by author 2008-01-14 10:31:26. |
