Yes, good shot. But making it float is not simple!. Why not have it touch? Or is it the idea not to have it touch the surface?

Hmmm...... I can see how this relaters to water, but it's difficult to see the water.

I think the border or post-shot manipulation you have done spoils this shot. [5]

I am not sure I would reallize it's under water without the title. Water could be more accented here, anyway the photo itself is very nice! :-)

well, for starters, it's nice and crisp and the lighting is good. and it's clearly a boat. not sure how that ties in with the title. i think you also may have overdone the photoshop. that might be hurting you here. also, the LMVs may vote you down for not actually showing water.

OK....i'll try to forgive the spots to the right of the subject and the possible abrasions under it as well...was shot as dropped or is there some physics going on behind the seen....if dropped its a nice capture and if physics the effect is very good. Excellent except for the aforementioned items.

From the Critique Club

First of all, a disclaimer. I didn't enter this challenge because I could not get a good shot with the limitations of my camera. That out of the way...

The first thing I noticed about many of the Soft Focus shots were that they were VERY dark and DULL in color. This one is no exception on those details. However, with this shot I personally think that those issues are not as important. This shot comes off good as dark as it is. I WOULD like to see just a TAD BIT of fill light on the left and rear cactus parts. Also, the dullness of the color here is not really a detraction because of the almost monotone color scheme!

I am a little bit amazed that you maintained a sense of pokiness of the cactii thorns here. Even though the focus is soft, the thorns still seem very sharp and something to stay away from!

A very nice image overall and MUCH better than I could have hoped to achieve!

Comment by Neil:
Nice clear shot. Good twist to have it in air, but it's less dynamic than it could have been if a bit further up. While you did a very good job on this meeting the challenge, with some flare, I don't think it's as interesting a subject as many have found here. (Though this is one of the better nail theme shots in the challenge!)

Good idea!

Voters should not leave you up in the air over this one's score.
