Day 13 Sisterby TCGuruComment by glad2badad: You caught a nice gleam in her eyes. :) I like the side lighting and you handled the exposure quite well (IMO), covering a nice tonal range. I might consider losing just a tad off the top. |

Day 8 Flutterbyby TCGuruComment by Rooster: nice capture! I the negative space takes away here instead of adding something to it. Otherwise a great shot! |

Day 8 Flutterbyby TCGuruComment by dtremain: I love the colors of these butterflies, so B&W wouldn't be my favorite for this. How did you get him to sit still for the picture? The butterfly I shot for Bokeh - Butterfly Breakfast was very active and not very cooperative in spreading his/her wings. Placement of the leaf behind its head is unfortunate - makes the butterfly blend into the background in that area. I have great respect for those who can shoot living, active creatures and get a good shot - which this definitely is. |

Day 9 Pretty Kittyby TCGuruComment by dtremain: Great detail here. I agree that the bottom left is distracting, but on the other hand, you wouldn't want to lose the detail of the hair. |

day 12 Family Pictureby TCGuruComment by dtremain: Don't believe in challenges, do you - like shooting with a river reflecting full sun as your background (and not wanting a silhouette)? The people are a shade dark, but that isn't fixable without blowing out the background. I'm not particularly fond of the boy's expression - almost looks vampirish! (I'm sure he's a nice kid...) |

Day 13 Sisterby TCGuruComment by dtremain: Excellent expression, and love that she's looking directly into the camera. She is very engaging and friendly. I think the bright light on her nose and chin detract from the shot. I'd suggest you try a crop of this that bisects the wooden post (no further to the left than the left edge of the top ridge) and removes about 1/2 of the black above her head. The wood grain in the post is wonderful, but the shot doesn't need the whole post - just part of it. As it is, the post detracts because it is a strong image and does not appear to be quite straight. |
