Man, it is pretty hard to turn plain rice into an interesting photo. But you have nice focus and good b/w conversion, so decent score.

I don't either think its disturbing. I think it rather adds to the eerie look with the fog. I love the photo alot! The fog and the grain gives it kind of a nostalgic look. My favorite kind of look :)

Quite the detail for this just being frost. At first glance I would have thought it was actual snow that had fallen. I like how the branch comes down out of the right corner and almost seems to come out of the screen at me.

Just using a piece of black paper, two very simple halogen lamps with a piece of paper in front of it to dim the light (Warning: got many burn holes in the paper, but no fire yet), have to buy some descent lights one time.
