Wow, this is great. The fog/mist really makes for great B&W photo's,and this composition with the trees is awesome. I've never used the blue filter before...could you possibly throw the photo on next to this one without it so I can see what effect it has?

Fallen tree

That is one big tree. (Willow/Salix?) At first I thought it very different from mine: you have the bark and those fine squiggly branches so enticingly reflected in the water. And I still think that is the strength in this picture. My second thought is yes, it is like mine - big old tree reaching out, even if fallen, over good reflecting mostly smooth water, a kind of basic nature happening, given that trees grow near water, get old and make their eloquent way to the great beyond. Yours is more difficult to photograph yet you managed to convey its character and mass.

The black and white work very well here and seems to have polarized the commenting, at least in my mind. Kind of like having to state both sides of the reactions caused by the photo. Like the shot, don't really care one way or the other about cauliflower.

Stunning photo, the soft reflection on the pistil and the beautiful backlighting are great! I would like to see the same shot with the pistil/stamen a little more in the topleft of the frame to see a little more of the backlit petals.
