Splashby colorcarnivalComment by aliqui: The splash is cool, but it for some reason doesn't feel like the subject of the photo. And without it being the subject of the photo I don't know what is. I guess the splash alone doesn't hold my attention. |

Splashby colorcarnivalComment by Judi: Good detail in the splach but the objects in the foreground have lost some detail and seem out of place. |

No Picnic Today (Day 14)by colorcarnivalComment by Bruce_the_Robert: Okay, first, I like this as is; you've made good choices in composition and choice of subject, and it all works well together. Contrast, focus, and aperture work well enough for me; change any of them and you have a different image, but I'd have to see it to know whether I'd like it better. But you've asked for a critique, so here goes another thought: I might have tried this two additional ways; first, with much more attention to the picnic table, from a lower angle (I'm a big fan of holding the camera near the ground and taking shots), and with nothing between you and it, so that it dominates but so that you can still tell it's a picnic table, in the ground, at the edge of Lake Erie. The other way would be to minimize it, move back, with a wider angle, so that it's almost not seen unless the viewer looks, really looks, at the image; that is, kind of lose it by composition. |

On Guard (Day 13)by colorcarnivalComment by Bruce_the_Robert: What Jon said about the composition, what Sandy said about the effect of the lines, and what Roz said about the crop (the existing crop giving us a feeling that he's right above us). I think it's spot on! |

Magic Stickby colorcarnivalComment by roz: omg omg .. talk about nearly getting a ribbon ...altho totally the wrong colour .. way to go michelle!!!!!! ... this photograph has really grown on me .. its sort'v magical & the stick helps that illusion of course .. love the postures of the children .. great imaginative approach and love your different processing .. NEVER A GOOD THING IN DPC!!!!!:):):):) ..lololololol .. actually the imaginative approach usually works in dpc, but the different processing definitely doesnt ..
"this is a photographic contest" .. wot tha ..
ummmm .. i think the challenge rules say advanced editing .. wot the person really means is that if he/she can pick the editing then they dont like it .. there's probably heaps more editing by other ppl in this challenge that isnt as obvious, but ppl dont go "this is a photographic contest" ... i reckon as soon as you sharpen you've left 'just' photography behind, and you've entered the realms of digital art .. wotever .. everyone's different i spose, i just dont like it when ppl vote you down for their ignorance .. xxx |
