Lake of Luzern Fun 2by Noel_ZHComment by KaDi: Removing halo effect helps...I'd still burn the heck out of those columns in the background and the square white card on the bike...but that's just me. |

Lake of Luzern Fun 1by Noel_ZHComment by KaDi: Originally posted by Noel_ZH: KaDi, thanks for the comments, very good point. I've now lasso'd the face, duplicated, set to overlay 30%, and I'm quite satisfied with that (definitely looks a lot better!). Not sure what you're asking in relation to how I'm doing it, let me know what specifically and I'll try my best to explain :) Thanks again!
ps: reuploaded up the image with the new one. |
You've already explained...in this case you made a selection (face) and set the layer to overlay....different from the method I describe but that's fine with me. I've noticed that there are many different approaches to dodge and burn...I'm just curious how other people go about it.
ps: look better...not overdone at all |

Lake of Luzern Fun 2by Noel_ZHComment by Noel_ZH: *Embarassed* I added the dodge halo as an experiment, it's been removed, agree with you on that one :) Thanks for your comments.
PS: Also here, updated the image! |

Lake of Luzern Fun 1by Noel_ZHComment by KaDi: Love the saturation on this edited version. Would like to see a bit more light on her face...might try dodging a bit there. I've found that using a new layer set to "overlay" or "soft light" and working with a low opacity brush gives me the most control in dodge/burn....how are you doing it? |

Lake of Luzern Fun 2by Noel_ZHComment by KaDi: I generally do not enjoy motion blur of this type...it just makes me dizzy to look at an image like this. However, I think it adds a lot to the mood of the subject and rescues what is otherwise a distracting background from interfering. It seems that the effect has created a halo around your lady's head that isn't in the orignal (thanks for including that for comparison, btw)...is there some way of avoiding it? Perhaps you could burn the highlights out of the halo and some of the background elements? |

BMWby Noel_ZHComment by rtscribbs02: I like how you blurred everything but the car. Also, the black background is great for making the car stand out. Good picture. |
