Another new kitty!by bergiekatComment by colorcarnival: darn - i am at a computer at the moment where i think the screen is not calibrated right. This picture is a little dark and I cannot see the details as well as I would like. I will say the eyes look spectacular. And this does look like a very regal pose. |

Another new kitty!by bergiekatComment by roz: i typed my comment on your photograph kat, and when i went to post it dpc had died .. that was 12 hours ago ... it was 'down' for hours ..
i love the different textures happening in this photograph .. and isnt it so difficult to photograph animals that are black? ... they can sometimes seem to lose all detail .. but in some ways that very thing works for this image coz it makes those eyes really pop .. love the cats posture ... very catlike!! ... :)
also i never got your pm till hours and hours after you'd probably sent it ... weird eh? ... but as you'd know by now there was no problem and thanx for starting the thread .. :) |

Another new kitty!by bergiekatComment by undieyatch: Traditional use of orange filter for b&w - increase of contrast especially evident in the eyes, which are a bit soft though. Vignette is maybe a touch heavy to my eye. |

Another new kitty!by bergiekatComment by J-Me: I love this shot. You've really captured this kitty's personality/ thoughts at this moment (whatever cats think....*grin*)
I'm wondering if perhaps, having cut and pasted another layer of the cat itself and dodging the background to lighten it just a bit around the cat, might have made it stood out a bit more? I think that adjusting brightness/contrast might have blown things out or darkened the cat too much so, I think that dodging the background a bit lighter and perhaps, blending it to the darker outside edges might have highlighted the focal point of the cat just a bit more dramatically? |
