The dark tones make the eyes pop. Are they the yellow eyes?

Very handsome - I think I'd have liked some whites in the background somewhere

I would have really liked to see a lighter tone on the wall and floor. It would have really made the cat pop out more and add a little something to the image. I think the strongest part of the image now is th eyes and everything else is just bland.

Love kitties - a new addition to the family? Wish I could see a few more details in the face area, but appreciate the vignetting. Might try a tighter crop on the left.

I like the vignetting, I'd like to see a slightly brighter subject though (not much....just a little). Nice scary kitty though.

I really like the depth of darkness of this one, as it casts a mysterious feeling all over the image.....

darn - i am at a computer at the moment where i think the screen is not calibrated right. This picture is a little dark and I cannot see the details as well as I would like. I will say the eyes look spectacular. And this does look like a very regal pose.

i typed my comment on your photograph kat, and when i went to post it dpc had died .. that was 12 hours ago ... it was 'down' for hours ..
i love the different textures happening in this photograph .. and isnt it so difficult to photograph animals that are black? ... they can sometimes seem to lose all detail .. but in some ways that very thing works for this image coz it makes those eyes really pop .. love the cats posture ... very catlike!! ... :)
also i never got your pm till hours and hours after you'd probably sent it ... weird eh? ... but as you'd know by now there was no problem and thanx for starting the thread .. :)

Traditional use of orange filter for b&w - increase of contrast especially evident in the eyes, which are a bit soft though. Vignette is maybe a touch heavy to my eye.

I love this shot. You've really captured this kitty's personality/ thoughts at this moment (whatever cats think....*grin*)

I'm wondering if perhaps, having cut and pasted another layer of the cat itself and dodging the background to lighten it just a bit around the cat, might have made it stood out a bit more? I think that adjusting brightness/contrast might have blown things out or darkened the cat too much so, I think that dodging the background a bit lighter and perhaps, blending it to the darker outside edges might have highlighted the focal point of the cat just a bit more dramatically?

Ooooh. . .you have really captured the essence of cats: royalty. sophistication. And those sparkling eyes! Beautifully done, Kat!

Nice composition, it's a bit dark for me but that may just be me, I tend not to like photos that are dark.

The eyes are great.

Why use an orange filter? Does it improve the b/w?

Great pose!!! Posibbly could have done with either a little more contrast to bring the cat out more (though I cant really talk about this given they my shot definitely needed more pop) or perhaps a touch of bokeh to mask the door frame

Looks really good to me too - SMILE!

I'm not a huge fan of pet portraits, but this particular one is VERY CLASSY! The fur in particular is so attractive with this processing - well done.
