had it higher than most on my iPad, then saw it on my 27". Way too much noise. Over sharpened and/or high ISO not put thru a clean up. Love this scene.

I'm thinking that this is snow atop evergreen needles. Because of differences of the substrates, or anteceding actions, some snow has clumped together to form random patches, like flowers, perhaps mums. It's a peek into time, impermanence, as snow does disappear in wind, warmth and is covered over by ensuing falls. The monotone and contrast bring out the effect. An hour before or after might make all the difference. It also evokes the changing seasons.
