Awesome stuff. The volcanoes here in Japan seem to be mostly smoke and ash types (apart from the dormant ones, of course) - lava flows kl\like this are pretty rara, anyway.

I'm thinking that cropping everything below the skyline, so that just the firework against the black night sky would add more impact.

I'm not a huge fan of waterfall shots, but I quite liked this one. In fact, I almost typed that in the comment box when voting but didn't want to offend other waterfall shooters.

I didn't vote on this challenge, and you sure have a fascinating photo there!

However, you had a problem with people who didn't consider this "rural", so allow me to quote from Wikipedia to help you understand why those voters might have felt that way:
