Face or Abstract?by levyj413Comment by timfythetoo: Cool image. The background becomes the primary aspect and the silhouette is a nice balance. Outside of the two spots of light on the face this is a pretty clean image. Nice take on the challenge. |

Face or Abstract?by levyj413Comment by vtruan: Not what I would consider boken, to much detail in background to me, I can tell they are fiberoptice. Great idea though. |

Alone Togetherby levyj413Comment by BeckyT: Just wanted to say I gave you a 10 for this shot. I really felt this one should have done better. My eyes are drawn to the guy in the middle but then they roam and you see how everyone is alone in the crowd. I like how you had most everyone in focus. The lighting was pretty good also. I can't think of anything I would change. You seized the moment and that is what it is all about. I would love to get a shot like this someday. Great job. |

Alone Togetherby levyj413Comment by Sebi: Great concept for a title. I do not like how there isn't a focus on the people who are alone together, not many will assume that the title has to do with the whole section of the subway full of people.
The photo is way to busy, the focus is all over the place, but my eye is mostly drawn to the man with the hat, which makes for the interesting concept of him being in his own place all by himself. The photo is a bit boring and looks like a point and shoot situation. It's a bit pasty, and if you don't already, I would suggest editing your pic BEFORE resizing it. Overall not a very good shot though. |

Last Runby levyj413Comment by glad2badad: Maybe if the entire outline of the train "engine" was sharp this would have a better chance? Or, if something had to be out of focal range then make sure the curved front area and "smokestack" are crisp. What's that blue glowing line in front? The lighting is kind of neat overall. Using a toy train kind of doomed you from the start. :( Good luck. |

Welcome Home, Dearby levyj413Comment by srbrubaker: Greetings from the Critic's Club :
FIRST IMPRESSION The premise of this photo is quite funny and the photo conveys that sense of fun.
COMPOSTION: The use of diagonal lines works marvelously: the diagonal line connecting the lines of sight of the subjects and the diagonal line of blue light. The setup does raise the question about whether Mr Ducky is really welcome, the door seems to be closed - perhaps Mr. Ducky will have to climb in through the window? Somehow, it looks like a long way up and there are no steps. Good thing Mr. Ducky can fly!
LIGHTING; The lighting is very interesting, but it is easy to be of two minds about it. I find the bright strip of light interesting, and I find its reflection on the Ducky Home to be quite attractive. On the other hand, when reflecting off Mr & Mrs. it looks a little eerie and menacing. I also find the Mr Ducky's tail is lit much better than Mrs Ducky's face, and that bothers me. There is a nice balance between well-lit subjects and shadow spaces which makes the subjects pop out.
PHOTOGRAPHIC TECHNIQUE: The image is fairly crisp and clear without noise. The camera angle is effective. There is just about enough DOF, although Mrs Ducky is noticably more fuzzy than Mr. Ducky.
OVERALL IMPRESSION: It is a humorous photo, carefully taken. The novel use of light adds interest, but there are some possibilities for improvement in lighting and focus.
Good Luck.
