Red Cross: Donate Platelets, Save Livesby levyj413Comment by skylercall: Critique Club Comment
Congratulations on scoring above a 5.0 as you had hoped.
I agree with you that the reflections on the cross and the light in the background are both distracting. Perhaps you should have stepped a little further back and to the right and pointed the camera a little more to the left. This would have allowed all of the words on the gray stone to be visible and may have placed the red cross in front of the beinlight in the background. Without being there I really can't tell if that would've presented more problems or not. It may have made the reflections better but it may have made them worse. After looking a bit more I realize that if you move too far to the right you will block part of the title "To Those We Serve". The entire composition may need to be rethought.
While I am sure this is due to the material used in the cross (I assume it is marble) it does resemble noise that is often produced at higher ISO levels. I am sure this isn't the case because the rest of the image seems to have none but it is rather distracting.
Where are you trying to focus the viewers attention? The cross is too dark so my eyes naturally look towards the distracting background found between the red cross and gray wall.
In closing, I do feel that you met the challenge as your image does portray something good. Nice work. |

Primary Colorsby levyj413Comment by sabphoto: This reminds me of my valet parking days, we word the exact same colors and would huddle around on cold days looking like a gang or something. We used to joke about being high priced car thiefs cause we'd all fly out of the van and jump into already running cars (expensive things too) and take off to the parking lot, I'm sure we got more than one crazy look.
I like the colors here, very nice image that keeps your eye on the subject but also lets you look around without getting lost. |

Day 10: Metro Symmetryby levyj413Comment by noraneko: Hi Jeffrey, stopping by to thumb thru some of the 30-day challenge photos. This is great, one of your strongest IMO. The colors and lighting add a spooky, almost otherwordly glow. And the white border brings it all together nicely. Great job! |

Fruit Salad, anyone?by levyj413Comment by Kelli: I thought this was cute and gave it a 6 in voting. The colors are vibrant, the sharpness is spot on. I love the tilt to it. |
