I did not vote in this challenge but I would have scored this high. Although, I would not have made the connection with the cell phone lol. My initial reaction was based on the guy being in focus while everyone else is a blur. But what you have written is pretty spot on.

personally, i would have cropped it just above the eyebrow on the right and just below the lip, and i would have either toned it bw or duotone. it's a nice shot, but you should know by now what scores in a freestudy and what doesn't ;-) there's just nothing there that leaps up and makes you smack your head saying, damn, i wish i had shot that--which is what you have to do if you want to score...

Captivating image. The focus is very nice on the eyes. Good contrast and comp, slightly overexposed. The color cast being off hurt this with the scoring I'm sure.

I have absoutely no idea why there could be anything considered wrong with this shot. I like it......really! It's sharp, she's got a cute expression, GREAT eyes, detailed NICELY!!! I like the DOF and the crop, too.

the skin color seems off, doesn't seem natural. and the shallow DOF, which normally would work well, only emphasizes this strange color and makes it seem almost like a glow. Something as simple as a photo filter could probably do wonders for this image.
