Three shots of one sunset. The leftmost is the earliest and the brightest. Then there's the middle shot, with the sky dark blue. The right side is the latest, darkest shot.

Sunset was at 5:00 pm. This is facing east.

All three were shot at F/11 and ISO 100, but I varied the shutter.
Shot 1: 2s, 5:08 pm
Shot 2: 10s, 5:25 pm
Shot 3: 10s, 5:40 pm

For those wondering, yes, this is all in one view.

Had a hunch this was you. I don't quite understand the voter slamming it, but my first reaction was disbelief that this was the same framed shot - been there once but I gave it the benefit of the doubt and gave it a 7. Musta been a touch of DNMC perception I guess - people associate Time Lapse primarily with a single subject moving or motioning through the frame. Anyway - it's a great image!

very well done. i can follow the time lapse easily and it transitions beautifully from daylight to darkness.

I can't vote, but if I could this would be one of my favorites. Very neat how you did this and great shot of the Mall.

Different take on this. While most of the shots show actual movement, you show the progress from day to night. I love it.

How d'you do all this seamlessness? Or is that a bit of noise reduction booboo in the trees toward the left side? Good idea well done.

Wow, the transition from time of day to the other looks seemless here. Nicely done.

I believe that you used multiple exposures, but this effect could be easily achieved without it in post-processing

A few of these type of shots in the challenge and I think they work well. IF this were a bit wider in scope, so that the transition was more gradual it would work better for me.

Nice composition. I like the blue sky connecting it all together.

If this wasn't in a time lapse contest I wouldn't know you were trying to convey time.

Subtle but effective - the transition of the blues of the sky is very well dull and has produced a lovely richness of colour. The monument like buildings seem a little over bright.

I like how the Washington Monument helps delineate the light and dark. My only complaint from a time lapse perspective is that the lower part of each side seem similar light intensity. The capital building to the right of the monument is darker so the time lapse is evident, just not obvious. Maybe this is Jeffrey's and you are being subtle. :)

After having this comment open on my desktop for 5 minutes I've come to this conclusion. The three main buildings appear to be about the same intensity, making the gradient in the sky hard to believe. I'd love to see a few twinkling stars to liven up the RH side. I almost deleted the comment because I am having trouble being clear and concise with my words. I'll check later to see if a DPC wordsmith gave it a better comment. :)

I may have shot a little bit earlier so that there were no lights on in the left handside of the image. Nice patience

Nice smooth transition. I notice a vertical line to the right of the Washington Monument the might be blended a little better. No big deal, but it sort of gives away the fact that this is a blend of multiple images. Nice idea and pretty scene.

I like the fact that you have done a wonderdul job of blending the different shots. So many of these HDTR's are left with hard lines that detract from the overall view of the photo. You have managed to avoid that and I think that is awesome.

Composition wise, this is just awesome. The two monuments with the capital building in it really show what Washington is about. My only quip would be the building being cut off on the right of the Washington monument.

Still, this is a great shot, it fits the challenge well and is one of the best HDTR's I have seen. 8

Very nice shot - the large amount of clear sky provides a lovely backdrop to these iconic buildings and moves the focus to them and away from the sky (often the sky overpowers if it's too interesting with stars). For me I'd like to see the buildings with a little more definition, maybe reduce the highlights or up the shadows as they feel just a tad overexposed...but it's a beatiful shot as is.

It took me a while to find the time lapse in this one. Hope other voters wont be as slow or slower than me. Well done.

Jeffrey? I was going to do something like this too, but the weather wouldn't cooperate.
