 Yep, a self-portrait. Yep, I hated being called "four-eyes" in school.

I don't own an off-camera flash, so I use my point-and-shoots in timer mode. I put a piece of white tissue paper over the flash (like you'd get in a gift bag) to diffuse the light - it made quite a difference! The point and shoot was sitting on a dresser about 3 feet from me. I shot in total darkness with the D200 on bulb mode.

I'm sitting in front of a $10 piece of black fabric.

Each take went like this:
- press the shutter button to start the timer
- sit down
- lower my glasses and look at the D200
- open the D200 shutter
- flash
- close the D200 shutter
- review

Took maybe 10 - this had the best expression.

I shot this at 11:35 pm, so it's a good thing it was only basic editing! Still managed to get in some sharpening, shadow/higlight to tone down my bright forehead, some cropping, and a gradient map to convert to B&W.

Post-challenge: hooray! All week the score toyed with 6.0, so I'm happy the scrubber put me over the top.

nice lighting. so you use the flash from one camera while taking the picture with another camera. YOU ARE DEVIOUS!

Ooooh not a typical Jeffrey expression, LOL. Thank goodness. Where's the smile in the eyes...oh that's right you're FIERCE.
Very nice job Jeffrey. Congrats on going over the 6 mark. You got a 7 from me. And I hate to say it ... without the smile in the eyes I didn't realize that was you.

I thought this was yours, considering it is a self portrait that wouldn't be too hard for me to figure out, but I actually gave this one a 7 during voting, congrats on it getting bumped up above a 6.

Very nice. I love this in black and white. Great focus and nice use of lighting. Great stare. You look slightly intimidating. :P
