I can imagine the scene from what you show, and that makes it a good accomplishment. Maybe there could be a bit of a more flattering angle to give it the extra "wow factor"- but subtlety is sometimes a casualty of DPC war.

Indeed - it is a pond. Pretty standard snapshot image with nothing in particular to recommend it but neither is there anything to damage it as a photograph. Just a standard snap.

Good colors, focus, sharpness, and composition. Also good timing with the wave. I only see one problem with this photo, and unfortunately it's a big one: the lighting. The subjects are very dark, but not dark enough to be silhouettes. The relatively bright water draws the eye away from them. This could've been a wonderful photo if you had another source of light shining toward them, such as a remote flash.
