I know these are copper but I think the way they are presented is distracting. I think maybe a solid background without the price tag and in better focus, with some of the dust particles edited out would make them look much better.

Your definition and Neat's definition are much more narrow than intended by the original challenge description. A natural looking silhouette is not often pure black, unless doctored in Photoshop to the nth degree. In the case of my image, most voters felt it met the challenge. I do see the low votes, which evidently represent those who wanted to see an artificial silhouette.
