I like where you were going. Which the composition was a little different... perhaps to see the ends of the ribbons. A shot like this would really benefit from a person as the subject. Fits the title well.

The rose itself overwhelms the raindrops. Gotta look too hard for the drops. Also looks a little oversharpened and isn't focused as sharply as it needs to be. Would benefit from even shallower DOF to blur the background more.

I can see how the rose was offset in the composition. It's a bit sad that the bud had to be cut off because I think it would have been a lovely addition to the composition. This might be a little overexposed but it could be because it was overcast and so there was a lack of shadows and that cut down on the contrast. Even so, underexposing might have brought out more detail.

Beautifully vibrant red! I wish the drops were a little more prominent, but the point still gets across. Good job! 8o)

Greetings from the Critique Club

First, congratulations on a great score and great placement for your first challenge entry! As for meeting the challenge, you definitely nailed it! I think nearly everyone can relate to the action your image depicts, and I'm quite glad to hear that your hubby survived without requiring first aid!

This image scored very well, despite as many have pointed out the lack of crisp, clear focus. Composition is strong, with the knife forming a nice angle to both the hand and the pepper, and good placement of the subjects in the frame.

The color is excellent, in both the red and the green of the pepper and the flesh tones in the hand. The background has a bit of a yellow cast to it - if you use Photoshop (and it helps if you ask for critiques to post your editing steps in the comments), try doing a simple "Autolevels" - it really brightens up the background without altering the colors. Also, since I'm not sure of your processing, a little sharpening will help a bit with the soft focus.

Congrats on a great score, and keep shooting!

Looks like just justice to me. We need more of this kind of justice today.

Good idea. It might be better if we could see the complete noose in the shadow.
