Rainbow Rythm by timfythetooComment by Rikki: Fun and colorful entry. Not quite certain about the inner border though but this should do well in this challenge ;) Good luck! |

Two worlds - One bus stopby timfythetooComment by kirsty_mcn: ~trading post~
This is a wonderful candid, but not entirely sure if its photojournalism-worthy imho - makes a social comment, but can't really see it accompanying a news item.
The format works well, drawing out the space between the two characters. The slightly awkward horizontal positioning of the two people (ie not symmetrical, not on thirds) also adds to the feeling of unconnectedness. The vertical positioning of the bench is perfect in completing the composition, and putting the f/g in context.
I think it could have been improved by using a larger aperture, so a more restricted dof would make the b/g slightly less distracting - I was going to suggest a slight desat of the b/g, but I tried it and was not convinced. |

Two worlds - One bus stopby timfythetooComment by Louis: Very cool image, the two gents reflecting one another very well. Their differences make them as interesting as the fact that they are both positioned almost identically: one very bearded, one clean-shaven; one black, one white; one jacket on, one off; one with bare feet and sandals, one with shoes; one striped, one checked, one with stuff, one unencumbered, one with a hat, one not, etc etc! :) Cool stuff! I love that kind of "tension". That tree in the background separates them in a neat way. Would have loved to see the whole of the right bench. Great image, congratulations. |

I gave this a 6, though unless you consider the one looks a bit more eccentric than the other, I don't see the "two worlds". They both look like they probably have a bit in common actually. But that's neither here nor there. The picture works - it gets your attention and keeps it for a bit as you check out the scene. I like the outtake you posted, too, with just the bearded guy, his apple, and umbrella. Good captures! |
