I love the perspective of this shot! I also like how his face is nice and clear, and (it appears) the rest was selectively edited to glow and softened. The catchlights in his eyes are excellent. Focus looks great and the even lighting on the subject is very nice. I enjoy the vivid colors, since I associate it with vibrancy and youth.

Trading Post comment

Composition/subject
He's still a cute kid. Looks a lot like his dad, if you ask me. :-) I almost think this needs a bit more room, or less - more of a square crop, maybe, or crop just above the armpit?
Technical
Seems sharpest on his lips and a bit soft on the eye - I'd prefer it the other way 'round. Post processing seems to be very good - by that I mean I can't tell it's been post-processed.
Meets challenge
Yep. Single light source appears to have been used. I do like how the light highlights his curls just "so".
My opinion
More 6s than 5s, more 7s than 4s - I'd say that's pretty good as far as pleasing the "client". I just really like the way he's looking at the camera.

I have seen this one so many times, and just love it. This is definately a photo done by a "pro" in my opinion, as I cannot fault it in any way. It really "pops" for me, so well done..... I am adding it to my fav's as well.....

Good job Tim.
Looks like it was easier to shoot without tons of stupid teens in the shot (not that all teens are stupid - just the crowd on the boat in the previous shot)

Little bit of glare to the right of the anchor is distracting. Give you an 8 anyway.
