That wide angle really plays nicely with the foreground sweep of water - you're becoming a bit of a master at this whole editing thing. Absolutely did not deserve a tighter crop - the water is the whole reason for that damn dam's being, and deserves equal billing. You did both proud.

Very interesting idea to rotate this 90 degrees. Great colors and textures and while it does look like a monster, I think it probably would have made and excellent landscape shot too.

My first impression was "This is completely out of the box and illegal". My second impression was "OMG, this is a landscape shot inverted on end". My third impression was "What amazing colors and the illusion of a humanesque figure is incredible". My final overall impression was "WOW". You've earned my respect and admiration.
