JessicaPortrait-33-V4.jpgby 777STANComment by Ecce_Signum: I do like the composition here! Fessica has an engaging smile and looks nice and relaxed to me. Definately think fill in flash or something reflective to bounce light back at her would have helped with the hair detail. And thanks for posting your editing steps, they always help me :) |

Sunset-in-B&W2Glow.jpgby 777STANComment by pineapple: You remind me that it is natural to make a trade off between a dark region and a light region when exposing a sensor. Often the two cannot be achieved at once and in my opinion in real life the eye and brain are registering one or the other - not both. Your choice of revealing the sky enhances the mystery of the road and the woodland and imbues the image with some moody feeling. HDR techniques remove that feeling in order to gain a forensic look at the world. 0.02 cents worth nothing at current exchange rates. |

...On The Pondby 777STANComment by puzzled: What a perfectly still day this must have been! There's a bit too much going on I think, but you certainly have met the challenge. This might be a nice texture overlay. |

Sunset-in-B&W2Glow.jpgby 777STANComment by Melethia: In the B&W version, it's hard for me to see the "sunset" part. One thing you might want to try is create a black and white adjustment layer, then fade the opacity of it for a slight desat - to me that works better than the desat control, but that could just be in my head. You may also want to try a wee bit of shadows/highlights to see if there's a touch of detail - not too much - in the trees along the right hand side. |
