A few shots along similar lines in this challenge. I felt that the concept showed a good understanding of the criteria: "the essence of a person". But as Sonya says, DPC voters can be fickle. I liked the choices you made with post processing. Particularly the tones, not quite b&w. Zoom blur around the fingertips is a nice touch too, softening the overall feel. Nice going Captain :)

another example of religion, cats, and flowers not doing so well at times on DPC. I like the shot, you did great job with the PP. Also, might have been no head, voters can be very critical of what they feel is "meet the challenge". You met it and ya done good. Lots of good images in this challenge, you had some tough competition.
