In Loving Memoryby taljComment by karmat: Girlfriend, you have the monopoly on shots that you *could* critique technically, but that you won't because the emotive factor is so strong it overrides everything else.
to me, the coloring and pp you have chosen gives it that dreamy, surreal feeling that hangs around when we've lost someone we love. That feeling that we know it has happened, yet we still pick up the phone and start to call them, or expect to see them come around the corner at any time.
Also, whether intentional or not, the road is very powerful in this image. While the one we love is "behind" and is not moving, the road leads up and out of the frame, which is exactly what we have to do. Even though we ahve lost something so dear and important, the world keeps turning, and in our grief, we have to keep moving forward.
I'm hoping you are doing much, much better and on the road to recovery from the little holiday in the hospital (holiday, yea, right), and I hope that each new day helps you to become stronger and more hopeful on your road through life. |

In Loving Memoryby taljComment by msdoubletrouble: BIG HUG TO YOU!!!!
I look at this image and I get a lump in my throat, tears in my eyes, and think how truly amazing you are. I've NO doubt this was a very difficult image for you to take. Those who've not traveled death's road and lost someone they love dearly, someone they've heard breath beside them at night...they just can't understand. I'm VERY PROUD to have you as a friend and team mate. You are a strong woman! |

Damianby taljComment by roz: just browsing thru dpc and the WPL3 team/femme fatale ... i've only been with dpc a little over 2 months and keep finding new things ... also i havent tried to go on a forum or anything yet ...
but i read your comments on 'Damian'.. and i want to say that my thoughts and prayers are with you ...
as i hope you'd know by now, time is a great healer ... a cliche for sure, and so true ...
and altho i dont know you, i hope that time works its magic and your grief and loss is softened ...
from your write-up it seems that dpc might be working a bit of magic for you in other ways ... i know from my own experience that it can become quite an obsession/ distraction/ interest/ education/ motivation/ inspiration/ etc etc etc

Flower of Januaryby taljComment by Tlemetry: This is a 'paintable' shot! It already looks like the petals have been painted on. A tad bit on the bottom could be trimmed off but I would have left it the way it is. I love the lighting and shape of the flower as well as the greenery giving a diagonal visual line. I like the font used in the text but I would have made it a darker pink and brought it a little closer to the flower. It just feels so far away from it. The colors on the flower are superb!
[Edited to add] Oh, I love how you explain their meanings! Message edited by author 2006-12-11 11:14:18. |

White Rose 3by taljComment by Tlemetry: I would not have considered this composition. The red tip attracts your eye and becomes the subject. Just enough of the rose is shown to explain what we are looking at. Contrast is good on all these shots.
I like it.

White Rose 2by taljComment by Tlemetry: You have the whole flower in focus on this. Good job! The textures are fantastic. They look so soft to the touch. Compositions is good here on the side like that. Fills the majority of the frame and you can define each petal. I especially like the wavey petal up front.
Great job on this one!
