Carnations are the birth flower of January and Pink carnations inparticular can be used to say 'I will never forget you'.

This is a 'paintable' shot! It already looks like the petals have been painted on. A tad bit on the bottom could be trimmed off but I would have left it the way it is. I love the lighting and shape of the flower as well as the greenery giving a diagonal visual line. I like the font used in the text but I would have made it a darker pink and brought it a little closer to the flower. It just feels so far away from it. The colors on the flower are superb!

[Edited to add] Oh, I love how you explain their meanings!

Great rich color and depth. I like the composition as well.

Talj, you can get as many opinions as there are photographers - so here's mine:

I very much like the text font. Actually I very much like everything about this carnation shot, except that "if it was mine" I'd probably crop to just under the carnation bottom eliminating all, or nearly all the dark stuff under the flower.

Better? Worse? Who knows. Different, I suppose.

What Leroy said about the composition and lighting and text.
Plus I like the color against the black.

I'm no great lover of flower shots, but this is quite well done. Composition is nice, you've captured the texture of the flower well and the lighting is pleasant.

I do have issues with the text being a bit Jaggie... likely you reszied the image after adding the text?
