Footballersby KrisbyComment by Jaded_Housewife: possibly a tiny bit too much contrast on the people. And maybe if the roof were a tad darker it would balance out the photo. otherwise very nice.
just realized there is a distracting line under the roof on the upper left hand corner. is that from post processing? perhaps a mistake? just wanted to point that out. Message edited by author 2006-05-30 09:27:18. |

Down the stairsby KrisbyComment by Jaded_Housewife: I love this one. the guy being blurry is a bit distracting but even the blown out sky works well with this one. the women are in fantastic focus. great capture. |

Fossby KrisbyComment by Canadian_eh: Nice job, again, I think a boost of contrast and brightness would definatly help! seems a bit on the dull side of the spectrum, but nothing that con't be fixed! nice job! |

The Sunshine's Eclipse Windowby KrisbyComment by Canadian_eh: Read your comments and i pretty much agree. Although, I think if you CAN make the image appear better, you should. It's like anything else... do it to the best of your ability eh? |

The Fishermans Cabinby KrisbyComment by Canadian_eh: Really like the basis of this photo, i think a little PS would do wonders for it! I would definatly raise contrast and brightness, dodge and burn in a couple spots (like possably the cabin wood) and i might even use the unsharpen mask set about half way and see how that looks. Definatly nice shot though! |

A Portrait Of A Portraitistby KrisbyComment by alanfreed: I'll have to agree with the others that say that the biggest downfall on this shot would be the harsh shadows. Getting lighting right is tricky, but really helps to separate professional shots from more snapshot-ish ones.
The composition on this one seems a little off to me also, with things divided nearly exactly in half vertically. I like the idea of the shot, but I would have enjoyed seeing more of your face in it.
And like others have mentioned, a 5.6 is nothing to sneeze at! |

dö 025b1.jpgby KrisbyComment by Louis: Lovely portrait, though the lighting really could be improved, only because it renders the photo a bit flat in my opinion. I believe that more defined shadows in the face, or on the chest, add much interest, but of course still depending on the mood you're trying to create. The light's a bit yellow, which is immediately noticeable. The focus is kind of soft. Mostly, a portrait really needs to engage the viewer, and this usually occurs at the eyes; so, a strong catchlight in the eyes or direct contact with the viewer is usually preferred (again depending on the overall effect intended).
But overall, it is a lovely portrait well composed. |

A Portrait Of A Portraitistby KrisbyComment by Louis: I think your score reflects the fact that the image has technical problems, but is a great idea. If the idea were executed with just a little more care, the impact would have been greater. Just as an example, you can see the strong, hard shadow cast by the flash. The lighting is a bit flat in the image, which lessens its interest. Your position in the frame isn't the best choice, in my opinion. However, the idea is basically good, and a few adjustments could improve such a shot. (Your score of 5.653 isn't too bad!) |

Floral Hair (Originally by Billy Pegram)by KrisbyComment by rex: This image is great. I reallty love the colorful flowers and the eyes are great. Great shot IMO that could be improved if you just bump the saturation of the colors up a little to make them pop. |
