day 9 - unraveling.jpgby rachelellenComment by bdenny: I was totally gonna suggest that you salvage the yarn! If you knit (which I'm assuming you do), then that's the perfect way to get yarn on the cheap. You can buy sweaters second hand and unravel them and save tons. And don't worry, alot of people tend to hoard stuff. I have a hard time letting go and then, after awhile, just go on a decluttering spree and chunk half my stuff.
Like the shot. Great textures and patterns. |

day 14 - scouts.jpgby rachelellenComment by Alicia: Fun photo and story. The two men look a little apprehensive about their trip - like maybe they just should have stayed in bed? LOL! Very cute capture. |

day 15 - birdsby rachelellenComment by Alicia: Outstanding photo! As I'm sure others would have said, this is great use of negative space. Wonderful sky - and I loved your commentary. |

day 14 - scouts.jpgby rachelellenComment by rachelellen: Originally posted by citymars: Really nice personal photo. I can see the family resemblance. I'm curious as to why you blurred out some of the t-shirts. The troop number? Sometimes I think we worry too much about stuff like that. I mean, someone could maybe use it to identify your you or your town, but why would they? I don't mean to offend, quite the opposite -- just saying put your mind at ease about familial safety. Caution is good, but I think the news likes to scare us about dangers lurking out there to the point that they create fear where none is needed. OK, end of rant. :-) |
No offense taken at all! Yes, I blurred out the troop number and the name of the town where we live. Mostly because I also post these to my blog, where I post a lot more personal stuff than I do here, which could, in theory, make my family more of a target, on the very slim chance that anyone ever went looking for a target. My main concern is that the Internet has a really long memory, and all the information I put on my blog (or anywhere) will generally be findable in some way for who knows how long, thanks to Google's archiving and similar stuff, even if I take it down someday. I remember when I first had Internet access and a humble little online presence, I threw my full name and similar personal info around without even thinking about it, and when I got uneasy about that years later, it was virtually impossible to undo. I didn't want to somehow again find myself regretting making personal information available, at some future time.
It's a tough line to walk between caution and overcaution, but I try. :) My caution doesn't drive me off the Internet or keep me from posting pictures of my kids, but a little blurring on a couple of t-shirts didn't seem like too much of a sacrifice. :) |

I'm laughing at all the 'great gradient' comments, because I didn't do that. It was really there. Can't take credit. :) Thahks, though. Message edited by author 2007-07-16 13:55:15. |
