I disagree. But nonetheless, bout the photo- seems to have a brown color cast- the red is far too bright on top while the bottom is dirty brown. Try some curves and levels in photoshop.

Nice idea, nice composition. A bit simple is my first impression. upon further study, the black BG is well done, but the cheese slice is not 'pretty' - it seems to be drying out and does not look very attractive. There is some sheen/hot spots on teh top edge and on the right side that seem out of place. So based on that and the rather flat color of the cheese i'd say the lighting could be better (more even, 1/2 stop brighter maybe).
