If the nose isn't going to be in focus (and I agree that it shouldn't, if the eye is to be the subject), then the cheek needs to be blurred, too, in my opinion. As it is now, they fight for attention.

striking choice of color for your background. The way this is taken its almost hard to tell which way hes looking which adds alot of interest. Only thing i could say would make this better is to even out the darker color in the clouds, only possible in advanced i know but i wouldnt deduct for that. A very interesting picture and fits the challenge perfectly
