La Patience Éternelleby yankoComment by Melethia: This, for example, I gave an 8. Quite a compelling and intriguing photograph. There's a conversation going on here, but you have to listen for it. |

Hi Deb. First thank you for the comment. I know you left the smilie at the end but to be honest it still rubbed me the wrong way. Do you say the same thing to those who keep shooting tulips, their kids, themselves, waterfalls, windmills, zoo animals, etc., etc?
FWIW, I shot it because it fits the challenge and I didn't have anything better I could pull off during the week and I needed a shot for the DPL. I do have 21 straight 6+ scoring entries and not all of them are bubbles so it's not like I'm desperately trying to cling on to the only thing I can score a 6 with. Granted it's not greatest subject and I'm sure you don't like them. I'm not exactly the most creative person nor am I someone who tries to fake it like some do here to great success so the ideas don't pour out like a fountain. |
Actually, my point is that I really like your work when you get out of a studio-type setting, too. You do great portraits (the stuff you shot at the festival, for instance) and incredible architecture (I'm still taken with that one shot looking down the road in Austin.) You have good vision, in other words - you see things well then transform them into photographs. I do get a bit jaded about seeing the same things over and over - not from you in particular, just in general - even though they are done very well. I like to see things that take me new places, that show me people from all over the world, that look at things from slightly askew angles or perspectives. Did not mean to condemn your choice and understand fully why you chose it. And yeah, I tell Timfy that he really needs to quit shooting himself all the time, too. |

A strong focal point over a brilliant blend of colour. I like. |
