Day 3by renegade1966Comment by Retroesque: Yummy clouds.
I'm thinking you need to use a tripod to ensure a sharper photo - that way you can reduce your ISO to 100. |

Day 2by renegade1966Comment by Bruce_the_Robert: I'm working on my b&w skills, too, Todd, it's what I used to shoot in film (almost exclusively unless I was doing snapshots), but I just can't get it right in digital. Anytime I try, I'm just not happy with the results. For this, I would have tried to pick up a bit more detail of the bricks; unless you look really closely, you almost can't see the lines (that may be a function of resizing, I haven't been doing this seriously in digital to know for sure), but I'm guessing the color version shows these quite clearly. This is one of my frustrations in going from color to b&w with desat (by channel mixer or another method). Anyway, that's one thing I may have tried. I like the shot, by the way! |

Day 1by renegade1966Comment by Ivory: I like the focus on the name across the top of the building and the way you have filled most of the frame with the building really makes it more dramatic! |

Day 2by renegade1966Comment by MelonMusketeer: It looks to me like you worked the contrast about right to get the doors to have at least a little detail for this image. I agree that a little darker, and dodge the area with the doors would be a little better if you have the tools for that.
Winter offers opportunities for this type photos not available in the summer or spring when the trees are all filled out with leaves. |
