Fall Sceneby jjbeguinComment by gajmaj: Wonderful colours. I love the fade out from bottom to top and it's a nice simple yet effective composition (9) |

Fall Sceneby jjbeguinComment by e301: The curve in the reflection nicely quotes the Water Lillies, and I do like the array of tones in the fallen leaves. Photographically, I find it a touch too washed out as it moves up the image: I think you perhaps had enough here to speak of 'impressionism', without that extra push, be it from natural light or from processing. I don't know that I wouldn't have warmed the colour temperature of the whole thing a little either - it just has a slightly cold feel to it, slightly too far to blue.
But it works for the challenge, nicely, of course. The drfit, as the eye rises, from a genuinely photographic feel into a world of paint-like appearance (and a world I fully expect to see over-used in this challenge), makes a subtle point. Enjoyable. |

Fall Sceneby jjbeguinComment by lilnukee: This is just outstanding. I love the effect here done with the water reflection and just a whisp of fog. What a great eye. You are truly a master. (10) |

Fall Sceneby jjbeguinComment by pcody: I'm just commenting and using a place holder vote this pass.
The bottom 2/3 have some nice colors and the clarity of the leaves are wonderful against the midnight blue water. I'm not sure about the fade in at the top. The intent could have been to show the progression of art(painting) to reality. I don't know so I'm left with whatever reason I can think of. I did try flipping it and it looks like the leaves are falling from heaven and with that perspective, I would be in heaven also. |

A glimpse of eternityby jjbeguinComment by snackwells: You have chosen a distinctive entry with an interesting perspective for this challenge. This photo has a lot of potential. However, there are several aspects which make it unacceptable to me. Most glaring is the dead space created by the rotation of this image. I would have cropped a little off the right and cloned in the sky. There is a strong blue cast which could have been removed with a levels adjustment. The statue could have been lightened with a curves/levels adjustment to show more detail.
If you would like to see how I would have approached this photo, you can check my profile. |
