Legacy by dahkotaComment by SJCarter: Ya know... This shot has continued to haunt and grow on me since I first saw it - there are so many levels of meaning here. I love the fact that you emblazened the words of the Declaration of Independence on his back (symbolizing our forefathers who literally bore the scars of making and endorsing those words). The unrecognizable and almost slavelike position of your son supports the fact that these ideals have been upheld by the actions (and on the backs) of many people that we will never know. I didn't score this highly enough during the challenge (I only gave it a 7, but I'm glad to see that it still ribboned). I've now added it to my favorites and would score it a 10 today. I've learned a lot from this photo (both technically and creatively). |

the new American Gothicby dahkotaComment by Melethia: I love the story that goes with this! I also really like this shot, and oddly, for some of the reasons you detailed in your notes. It's like a little bubble world with a church dropped in. Almost like one of those snow globe things without the snow in a way. At any rate, I thought it a very cool shot. |

the new American Gothicby dahkotaComment by alexjack: great shot, really like the fisheye. i personally dont like the tonemapping, but still interesting take and I get your thoughts about the "fake" Am gothic. certainly makes the photo more interesting and would probably be much better as part of a series |

the new American Gothicby dahkotaComment by EstimatedEyes: Cool sky and I like the processing. The red door really pops here. The fish gives an interesting perspective, but I think this one would be even better with a bit of defishing. |
