I'll be surprised if this isn't DQ'ed, but nice concept.
Glad to see you are still here. I do like this one. Beauty in the midst of the grayness of the buildings.

Beauty is a subjective thing, I know. In my scoring and comments I'm trying to score based on NOT whether or not I would think a particular subject beautiful, but on whether the photographer has succeeded in creating a beautiful photo. I look for the elements of color, lines, focus and dof interest, lighting, and a certain element of grace and lovlieness. I'm looking for a unique and creative appeal for the highest scorers. The description says to create a photo that makes the viewer think "that's beautiful", so it will undoubtedly be very subjective. (This is what I'm putting at the start of all of my comments, and I hope it is helpful.)

That being said, this is one of my favorites so far. I'm not a fan of selective desat, but I like it here a lot. The whole concept of media and portrayal of beauty is captured in a very creative and unique way. Perfect placement of her "peeking" between the buildings. Good job!

unique composition, giving the viewers a peek at the peeking model in the ad. The desat is nice, although I feel it doesn't need to be that strong for the statement to be made. 10.

Good concept if hand was focal point. There should have been more of it in the picture. Focus on dirt and feet could be better. Maybe a wider depth of field.

Hello from the Critique Club!

This image speaks to those of us with children, but also takes us back to our own childhood when rain stopped play. The silhouetted child seems to be waiting for and longing for the rain to stop, as the water droplets gently slide down the window.

The eye is drawn immediately to the child̢۪s face in profile. His expression even in silhouette perfectly conveys the mood and atmosphere of the image. As odd as this sounds, this child has one of those perfectly shaped heads that adds to the appeal of this image. He also has a perfect profile.

The background unfortunately works against the profile a little perhaps: The tree branch outside disturbs the boy̢۪s profile, so that his chin is lost. The window frame too cuts across his profile at his eye level - I bet he has lovely, long eyelashes that would have appeared had you changed your shooting angle up or down or moved the child. Shooting from a lower angle would have also filled the frame more with your subject, moved closer towards the rule of thirds, and eradicated some of sky. But I would guess that this was one of those fleeting moments that you wanted to capture in a natural way, rather than losing the appeal in a stiff, posed picture.

The window frame is not straight, but life is not perfect! It does sort of work though as it almost mimics the child̢۪s downward gaze.

This picture does convey perfectly a child̢۪s melancholy on rainy days.
