Hello from the Critique Club!

This image speaks to those of us with children, but also takes us back to our own childhood when rain stopped play. The silhouetted child seems to be waiting for and longing for the rain to stop, as the water droplets gently slide down the window.

The eye is drawn immediately to the child’s face in profile. His expression even in silhouette perfectly conveys the mood and atmosphere of the image. As odd as this sounds, this child has one of those perfectly shaped heads that adds to the appeal of this image. He also has a perfect profile.

The background unfortunately works against the profile a little perhaps: The tree branch outside disturbs the boy’s profile, so that his chin is lost. The window frame too cuts across his profile at his eye level - I bet he has lovely, long eyelashes that would have appeared had you changed your shooting angle up or down or moved the child. Shooting from a lower angle would have also filled the frame more with your subject, moved closer towards the rule of thirds, and eradicated some of sky. But I would guess that this was one of those fleeting moments that you wanted to capture in a natural way, rather than losing the appeal in a stiff, posed picture.

The window frame is not straight, but life is not perfect! It does sort of work though as it almost mimics the child’s downward gaze.

This picture does convey perfectly a child’s melancholy on rainy days.

Really like this photo, especially the colors. The upperhalf might be a bit overexposed, but that doesn't matter to me.

A real "slice of life" photo, I like this alot. Difficult to convey moods without showing the face in detail, but this does just that; good job! (8)

I wish you would have rotated this a bit to be straight.... very cute, I like the way the window seems quite dirty and almost cell like, maybe it's raining? Nicely done... just watch your rotations especially on ones like this where it is extremely obvious.

This would have rocked as a black and white or duotone image.

Good silhouette! My only gripe is that the window isn't even with the frame of the picture...a tad bit crooked. Although to be honest, part of me can see as how that adds something to the flavor of the pic as well. Good composition overall.
