Without seeing the original I looked at this and thought, it could use a victim in the foreground (well I did see the title so that was sort of gave me a clue).
I think this is successful either way and you should enter. I don't like statues and figurines, in general, but if you could think of something to give it reference for the more literal minded folks that would be a plus.
