A bit overwhelming to walk through these colorful piñata markets. When shopping or browsing street markets we always get a little closer to the reality of the situation. Take away the carefully crafted packaging and slick advertising allows us to see behind the facade. We come away with a deeper understanding. The piñatas are a wonderful subject and you told the story well. This is the beauty of the photo essay where we see places and perspectives that can't be conveyed by a single image.

very claustrophobic, solemn people, i have a feeling these same people are happier in other settings. so much color and things jammed into such a small space, i would have to escape too.

The whole essay is just so strange/interesting. I have to keep looking through it. This image is probably my favorite. Everything is just so odd. Beautiful, fun, bright colors and shapes, creepy clown face, dangerous looking spiked fence, and the monsterization of a little boy. Fabulous.
