I have two little boys! They grow up fast don't they? I really like your use of the "spyglass" effect as it perfectly reflects how we stand back and watch them grow up and head out on their own. Maybe you meant it as something else, but this is what this picture tells me! It almost made me cry, and I'm sure it will make my wife cry!

Nice color image. Many viewers will think the round black border, though nicely done, is there just to shoehorn a kid picture into a "darkness" challenge and will vote accordingly. It is even taken from a parent level perspective. They will not "get it". This obviously means something to you but will not communicate it to the average voter.

On the technical side a viewer might ask why the bench was included in the composition and will not be able to come up with an answer. The back of the hat is slightly overexposed and should be toned down.

I like the way the wire bisects this with just enough space on top. The bird is a little dark, hard to see details. Nice composition though
