Flowershop2.jpgby KaralewComment by taterbug: This is a lovely photo. The water effect is neat. But even without it, if the shot were cropped just below the flowers, it would still be quite beatiful. Very nice colors, focus and dof are great. The water drops are a very nice touch. I really like the subtle, quiet lighting, suits the subject well IMO. A good use of negative space, the opposing flowers/blackness composition create a nice vertical across the image, the photo has a good balanced feel. One suggestion is, I would move your signature mark, it seems to be very prominent, robbing attention from those beautiful flowers and despoiling the dramatic negative space. Any other corner seems like it would be better. Overall a very nice shot, IMO. |

Flowershop2.jpgby KaralewComment by Ecce_Signum: Flamingpear flood perchance? 2 things spring to mind to me here.
1. The flowers don't need the ps effect the are wonderful on their own.
2. If you keep the effect I'd not have the left flower 'appear' to be in the water (or soften the line). The focus and lighting is excellent imho. |

My Hidden Flawsby KaralewComment by parrothead: I like the detail in your hair...the highlights are a bit blown out, but its a good core of a shot with a bit better lighting. it has a good feel. 6 |

My Hidden Flawsby KaralewComment by Skip: i don't know anything about portraiture, so i'm using your image as a guinnea pig as to what i think i would or wouldn't do in this situation, as well as what i notice and get out of your image.
you have chosen a unique perspective to portray yourself. in most situations, i would complain about the lighting washing out the details and character, but i can see that is what you are after: good job! the overall composition and expression work well. this is a good example of recognizing what you are after before shooting, and then following through on the execution. 8 from me. |
